Tomorrow marks #WhiteArmBandDay. In 1992, as Serb forces took over Prijedor, they ordered the “non-Serb” residents to mark their homes with white flags and themselves with white arm bands to be identified. They were then murdered or sent off to concentration camps.
In Prijedor, over 3,000 mainly Bosniak Muslims were murdered throughout the genocidal ethnic cleansing campaign committed by Serb forces.
This Saturday we’ll be broadcasting a discussion with a survivor of Prijedor and the Omarska Concentration Camp; Satko Mujagić.
Close to 1,000 remains of those murdered in the Prijedor region were found in 2013. 17 years after the end of the war.
Over 3,000 people were murdered in the Prijedor region. Many Bosnian Muslims have still not found the remains of their loved ones.
