Privacy Policy

At Remembering Srebrenica, we take your privacy very seriously and will only use the data that you submit to keep you informed about the work of the charity, upcoming events and new resources. This privacy policy details when and why we collect personal data, how we use it and how we keep it secure.

Types of data we collect and how we use it

Mailing List

As part of the registration for our monthly e-newsletter and event emails, we collect personal information. We use that information to email you about the work of Remembering Srebrenica, upcoming events or activities, new resources or opportunities in your area. We don’t rent or trade email lists with other organisations or businesses.

We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics on email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. Mailchimp currently uses US based servers to store the data so any personal data given for use on the mailing list will be transferred outside of the EU. MailChimp is a member of the EU-US Privacy Shield. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time simply by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails. Alternatively, email info@srebrenica.org.uk if you no longer wish to be contacted.

Delegates and Community Champions

As part of the application process to take part in our ‘Lessons from Srebrenica’ delegation programme, we collect personal information necessary for the running of the international visit including name, contact details and address. We use that information to contact you about you application and upcoming visit – sending you relevant information packs and materials that you will need for the programme. Following your visit, we will contact you regarding the completion of pledge, upcoming events and activities in your local area. We will communicate your name and contact details with the Remembering Srebrenica board in your area with the purpose of keeping you up to date with activities that are happening in your area.

Educational Resource Downloads

When you register to access our education resources through Remembering Srebrenica, your name, email address and organisation name will be stored on our resource system. This information will only be used to contact you about the education resources you have downloaded unless you give explicit consent to be added to our mail list. You personal details will not be shared with another company. If you would like access to our education resources without providing this personal data, please email info@srebrenica.org.uk or phone 0121 454 3343.

Google Analytics

When someone visits www.srebrenica.org.uk we use a third party service, Google Analytics to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to understand traffic to different areas of the site and popularity of resources to allow us to constantly develop and improve our website. This information is only processed in a way that does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

Data Storage

Remembering Srebrenica is committed to the safe storage of your personal data. As such, we have stringent internal measures in place to ensure the security of your data. As an organisation we use Dropbox and Google Drive to store and collect records of data. Dropbox currently uses US based servers to store the data so any personal data given will be transferred outside of the EU. Dropbox is a member of the EU-US Privacy Shield. Access to your personal information

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold. If you would like to do so, please email your request to Director of Remembering Srebrenica Amy Drake at info@Srebrenica.org.uk

We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.
