I am very glad to have this opportunity of sending this message for the Srebrenica Memorial Day here in the UK. This year marks the 25th anniversary of that terrible genocide, the worst atrocity in European soil since World War Two. The genocide was the high point, the culmination of years of campaign of hatred […]
Excellencies, distinguished participants, dear colleagues, I would like to begin by sincerely thanking the organisers of this poignant and important commemoration. To me, remembering what happened in Srebrenica 25 years ago constitutes not only responsibility that we all share in humanity but also an imperative to prevent the commission of such crimes in the future. We are delighted to play our part in this week of remembrance for holocaust and genocide. Many thanks @ANDborough for organising the week. Still time to register to hear from survivors and remember the victims:
I will light a candle and put it in my window at 8pm on 27 January for #HolocaustMemorialDay. #LightTheDarkness with me. https://t.co/i6NbC41jPO
All six episodes of the “Untold Killing” podcast which provides in depth analysis of the genocide in Srebrenica are available now. https://t.co/ueJmqZyJEs
Honour the victims by listening to the survivors.
This Friday's #RSUKBookClub recommendation is "The Bosnia List" where a young survivor confronts the people who betrayed his family during the Bosnian Genocide. A heartbreaking read that is all the more important for it.
