Srebrenica Memorial Week Events and Activities 2020

Over 1,200 memorial events and activities will be taking place in schools, local authorities, faith institutions, police forces etc as well as numerous individuals across the UK during this year’s Srebrenica Memorial Week from the 5th – 12th July.

Everyone at Remembering Srebrenica could not be more proud of all those connected to the charity for stepping up to the unique challenge that Covid-19 has presented and coming up with alternative ways to ensure that we will still be able to mark the 25th anniversary of the genocide in a fitting way. Our eleven Board Chairs, Members, partners and 1,450 Community Champions have worked tirelessly over the last couple of months to generate innovative ideas, and as ever, we are immensely grateful to them for the invaluable support and commitment that they continue to provide to the organisation.

Below are just some of the incredible events taking place this year to mark the significant anniversary year. Follow our Twitter and Facebook to see more of the commemorations taking place across the UK.

'I hope the soldiers who loaded the ammunition are tormented by the screams of the women and the cries of the children they killed'. Reaction after the VRS shelled a school in Srebrenica on this day 28 years ago.

Today, we remember the victims.
